Life on the Farm

Confession: I didn’t grow up on a farm.

I actually grew up in the Kansas City area, living smack dab in the middle of suburbia.

That said, we were fairly poor and ended up moving in with my grandma during my preteen years.

Now, she lived in a small rural area, right outside the city, and it was like heaven to me.

I explored the woods behind her house and sometimes visited the cows next door.

Again, not a farm, but closer to that reality and possibly the reason that, for many years, I craved having a farm of my own someday.

3 brown hens in bright green grass with a chicken-coop blurred in the background.

Our family actually moved cross-country nearly 6 years ago, hoping to make some version of that a reality.

We dreamed of buying some land, getting a few chickens and goats, and attempting the mini-family-farm thing while my kids finished growing up.

That said, God had other plans.

We ended up doing something totally unexpected.

Instead of a farm, we did the full-time RV thing for 3 1/2 years before landing in a house last year.

Strangely, my life now looks nothing like I thought it would when we moved 6 years ago, and strangely, I’m content with that.

We are tucked in the trees, living on a lake, not a farm, and we don’t have any farm animals.

All that said, life on the farm still intrigues me, and I will always love and appreciate family farms.

So, what better excuse to make something new and fun for you guys to enjoy, right?

Farm Animal Coloring Pages

I’m gonna get real for a minute, I’ve actually had these farm animal coloring pages on my mind since I created these zoo animal coloring pages 2 years ago!

I just never turned that thought into something until now.

My kiddos grew up going to the Kansas City Zoo, so naturally, making those zoo pages was nostalgic for me.

That said, the idea of having our own farm one day has always lingered in the back of my mind, so here I am with a second set of animal coloring sheets that I’m totally excited about.

First up, I created 2 adorable free options that are both simple and fun.

Farm Fresh + Farm Friends colored farm animal coloring pages

I created a cool farm-fresh coloring page ideal for all ages, and a cutesy farm friends page that is perfect for little ones!

Lastly, I created 6 additional farm-themed coloring sheets, found exclusively in my TPT store!

These pages took quite a bit of time for me to put together, as they are more detailed and unique.

If you love our free animal coloring pages shown above, you will love those additional pages too!

Hey guys! I’m Mary, homeschool mom of 3 amazing kiddos.

I’m so excited that you decided to check out my little corner of the world!

If you have been following our journey for any length of time, you already know that I’m obsessed with coffee, organization, and all things simple.

I’m also a huge dog lover and introvert 💗

My homeschool style is very eclectic.

I enjoy a solid mixture of structure and free range. I set goals for myself and my children each week, but I put no pressure on perfection.

We use a wide variety of curriculum in our home.

Some of our current favorites are The Good and the Beautiful, Life of Fred, Beautiful Feet Books, and Lifepac.

While my kids do spend a good amount of time learning at desks, they also spend countless hours exploring their creativity and practicing a little independence.

I love mountains, rainy days, and sitting by the campfire.

Our family recently relocated to the PNW and we have been enjoying finding new nature spots to explore together 🙌🏼

I can’t wait to connect and share all the things I’ve learned on our new journey!

Just a Note…

Thanks for checking out the kid activities portion of the blog!

Typically summer is the most productive time for my blog. However, our family is currently living in temporary housing and we do not see an end in sight (thank you housing marking 😪) — meaning my workspace & supplies to produce quality content it extremely limited.

I am still working, but it’s nothing like normal.

As always, we appreciate your patience!
