Printable Hiking Fun

Encourage kiddos to explore the great outdoors with some printable hiking fun — from our printable hiking worksheet for kids to simplistic hiking log printables for all ages!

Hiking with Kids

Nature adventuring and hiking with kids can be such a beautiful way to connect with your kiddos in a screen-based world.

Whether your family hiking adventures are simplistic or complex, the goal is always the same — encouraging children to form a love for the great outdoors.

With that said, safety and fun also play an important role when it comes to hiking as a family!

From utilizing walkie-talkies for safety purposes to participating in engaging hiking activities to keep little ones busy.

Printable Hiking Worksheet

If you are a homeschooler who loves the wild and free lifestyle, this worksheet is totally for you!

This fun hiking worksheet for kids is a simplistic hiking log that can be used alongside our other nature journal worksheets — such as our bug-catching worksheet and our bird-watching worksheet.

While this worksheet is designed to be used as a part of our nature journal for kids, you can totally use this one on its own as well, you guys!

Using Your Hiking Worksheet

I created this simplistic hiking worksheet for all the nature-loving kiddos out there and specifically designed it to be combined with our other free printable nature-themed worksheets.

With that said, I also designed each of those worksheets with the ability to be used alone as well.

Check out some of the simple ways you can use this fun hiking log worksheet!

  • As a Stand-Alone

This is hands-down the easiest way to use this worksheet.

Simply print it off before your hike and utilize it during or after your fun day of nature adventuring!

*Pro Tip: Clip your worksheet to a clipboard and hit the trail!

We absolutely love utilizing clipboards for paper activities.

  • As a Nature Project

As a full-time RV family, we simply don’t have a lot of space for extras.

However, if you have a little more room to spread your wings, this could be a super fun option!

Using a 3-ring binder and protective sleeves, you can easily catalog all of your nature adventures by creating a fun nature binder.

Take pictures from your hikes and create nature crafts to add to your awesome new project.

*Pro Tip: Have your kiddo turn their hike into an entire presentation by purchasing a trifold board instead!

Such a fun idea for a homeschool science project.

  • As a Nature Journal

Yes! This was definitely one of the main things I had in mind when creating this simple hiking worksheet.

While using a binding machine is my preferred method, you could totally get your worksheets bound at a store instead.

First, simply use a blank sheet of paper (that your kiddo colors), use this printable hiking worksheet, or lean on a fun nature coloring page as your nature journal cover.

Laminating or using higher-quality paper/cardstock is ideal for this part.

Then, print off our nature-themed all about me worksheet, our bug worksheet, and our bird worksheet.

Finally, check out the rest of our recommended nature-themed worksheets and coloring pages to complete your journal!

Note: I do have plans

Hiking Log Printables

As a busy road-schooling family, hiking and nature exploring are some of our absolute favorite things to do!

That said, while I was creating the above printable for the kiddos, I decided I needed one for myself as well!

So, if you are on the lookout for a hiking worksheet option for your older kids (or for yourself), this is the one, you guys!

Track all your hiking for this summer, set hiking goals for next year, or simply track your favorite trails!

Either way, this hiking log printable (on our main blog) is free, just like most of our printables here on Life + Homeschool!

Hey guys! I’m Mary, homeschool mom of 3 amazing kiddos.

I’m so excited that you decided to check out my little corner of the world!

If you have been following our journey for any length of time, you already know that I’m obsessed with coffee, organization, and all things simple.

I’m also a huge dog lover and introvert 💗

My homeschool style is very eclectic.

I enjoy a solid mixture of structure and free range. I set goals for myself and my children each week, but I put no pressure on perfection.

We use a wide variety of curriculum in our home.

Some of our current favorites are The Good and the Beautiful, Life of Fred, Beautiful Feet Books, and Lifepac.

While my kids do spend a good amount of time learning at desks, they also spend countless hours exploring their creativity and practicing a little independence.

I love mountains, rainy days, and sitting by the campfire.

Our family recently relocated to the PNW and we have been enjoying finding new nature spots to explore together 🙌🏼

I can’t wait to connect and share all the things I’ve learned on our new journey!

Just a Note…

Thanks for checking out the kid activities portion of the blog!

Typically summer is the most productive time for my blog. However, our family is currently living in temporary housing and we do not see an end in sight (thank you housing marking 😪) — meaning my workspace & supplies to produce quality content it extremely limited.

I am still working, but it’s nothing like normal.

As always, we appreciate your patience!
