Homeschooling Fourth Grade
Using Simple Workbooks…

I love using fourth-grade workbooks in our homeschool – especially for those pesky summer months to help avoid the summer slide.

However, workbooks can also double as a great aide during the homeschool year as well!

Homeschool Fourth Grade Workbooks & Tips

You can easily homeschool fourth grade with the use of a good solid homeschool curriculum and fourth-grade workbooks.

Check out all our fourth-grade workbook recommendations at the bottom of this post!

Why Use Fourth Grade Workbooks?

Fourth grade is an important year of growth for most youngsters! This is the time that independent learning really starts to kick in and many homeschool kids can begin the process of self-teaching.

Homeschooling Fourth Graders

For the longest time workbooks were only a summer thing in our home. However, in recent years I’ve started leaning on them more and more during the school year. Here’s why…

As children get older, their needs change. I love workbooks during the school year for encouraging independent learning time and for teaching secondary subjects. Workbooks are also an awesome choice for summer learning to avoid any type of learning setback.

Fourth Grade Learning Activities

When I homeschooled my fourth-grader, we were actually doing online public school, which left little room for extras. However, we have since switched gears and I now homeschool my children with the use of a simple homeschool curriculum (and yes, sometimes even workbooks!).

I truly look forward to each grade with my youngest and her fourth-grade homeschool year is only 2 short years away! It seems crazy to think that we are already this far in our homeschool journey!

Since homeschooling fourth-grade isn’t one I’m completely familiar with I took the opportunity to connect with a fellow homeschool blogger to offer these additional fourth-grade resources below!

Homeschool Activities for Fourth Grade…

  • Simple Math Helps – Yes! If there is one thing I remember about my son being in fourth grade, it’s the math.

Fourth grade is a critical time for students. Memorizing multiplication facts and gaining the ability to work through more difficult division problems are a must!

Meet the Author

Life & Homeschool Author

Hey guys! I’m Mary, homeschool mom of 3 amazing kiddos.

I’m so excited that you decided to check out my little corner of the world!

If you have been following our journey for any length of time, you already know that I’m obsessed with coffee, organization, and all things simple.

I’m also a huge dog lover and introvert 💗

My homeschool style is very eclectic.

I enjoy a solid mixture of structure and free range. I set goals for myself and my children each week, but I put no pressure on perfection.

We use a wide variety of curriculum in our home.

Some of our current favorites are The Good and the Beautiful, Life of Fred, Beautiful Feet Books, and Lifepac.

While my kids do spend a good amount of time learning at desks, they also spend countless hours exploring their creativity and practicing a little independence.

I love mountains, rainy days, and sitting by the campfire.

Our family recently relocated to the PNW and we have been enjoying finding new nature spots to explore together 🙌🏼

I can’t wait to connect and share all the things I’ve learned on our new journey!
